Project Summary Outline: The PaP “Cambodian Child development project” (CCDP) is comprised of training sessions and on the job classroom mentoring, delivered to volunteers and leaders working in children’s ministry within the rural Cambodian Church.

The PaP “Cambodian Child Development Project” (CCDP) exists to equip, train and mentor Church members with the skills and material needed to provide effective children’s ministry through worship (Sunday school), bible studies, Church run pre-schools and English language (ESL) outreach projects. The CCDP has been active in the Takeo provincial area for almost 2 years. In that time we have successfully prepared 28 young people for ministry. Through this process, our staff have produced resources and materials to equip workers to connect with young village children and their families. Most people who work in this capacity are unskilled and usually under educated. Churches are time poor and lack the resources to provide training, materials or the necessary support for members who want to serve. The CCDP is equipping volunteers and ministry workers to become effective teachers of Gospel based programs. The CCDP is vital for the regional Church! To date we have trained 28 people, whom in turn minister to almost 1000 children. The opportunity to grow the reach of this project is immense, PaP have the staff, the materials and the passion, sadly we are financially under resourced. Objective: The training team will continue to visit our 28 past trainees, encouraging continued personal devotions and small group participation, ensuring on the job application of learned skills, using the best of the teaching resources provided, support to introduce new children’s programs within the Church as a means of outreach. To identify opportunities for improvement in our training skills and the materials we produce. For 2017-18 we will work towards training a new group of 14 ministry workers: In effective teaching and class room management skills. To understand how to prepare and deliver relevant, meaningful, lessons using the PaP teaching aid “The beloved child”.  Through the development of an entirely new 12 month teaching series, train participants in the creation of comprehensive bible based teaching resources including stories, songs, activities and memory verses.  In the application of ESL resources for those intending to establish Church run English language outreach projects. To learn the importance of prayer, daily devotions and small group participation.  Including on the job support and mentoring to encourage full utilisation of learned skills.

Project time frame: July 2017 to June 30th 2018.
